REPLY 17w - First or family story about Dej.
I said it many times before. There was this airfield less then half mile from where i lived in Câmpulung, on a lower area next to the river, hidden from view in all directions. Next to it there was the Milk Preserving or whatever it translates factory. Built by the Swiss in 1959, milk from all county was brought in and processed, mostly turned into milk powder or cheese. Three times a day a siren would make a deafening sound heard from miles in all directions, at 6 AM, 2 PM and 10. During that time a plane could have landed and take off unheard.
But way before that. Dej was in power until 65 or minus 5 when i was born.
My mother told me many times this story, confirmed by grand mother, grand grand mother, others.
One day when she was a kid (born in 1943), after the war, a plane landed. A rare event, all kids flocked to the airfield.
A "gentleman" or should i call him "comrade" came down from the plane and picked one of the kids for a short ride. That kid was my mother.
Years later, when i was a kid myself she kept telling me that Dej took her for a ride in his plane.REPLY 17w - 17w
